The Celeste is the new large two-way loudspeaker from ODEON AUDIO. The loudspeaker is equipped with a newly developed double horn throat design which, in combination with a top-class 22 cm bass-midrange driver and a 1″ ring radiator in the 19 cm spherical horn, ensures dynamics and resolution that were previously unheard of in this price range. The Celeste can be operated with a wide range of tube and transistor amplifiers. When listening to music, the loudspeaker fades into the background and allows the user an emotional and unmediated access to the music.

In order to keep the deviations between the channels as low as possible, we use selected components for the crossover with a maximum deviation of just one percent. Only non-ageing components (film capacitors) are used. The Celeste works with capacitors from WIMA. The inherent sound of these capacitors opens up the sound image and harmonizes perfectly with the sound character of the compression chamber drivers. For a more direct saturation of the capacitors
and the associated faster signal processing, a large number of capacitors are connected together in the Helix and fitted with New Old Stock bridge capacitors. The flat coils used come from the German company Mundorf. In most high-end loudspeakers, the crossovers are built on Pertinax boards and the individual components are connected by conductors. In contrast, the crossovers of the Celeste are wired by hand, soldered point to point and then mechanically secured to prevent movement of the sensitive components and thus negative influences on the sound. The point-topoint wiring minimizes electrical transitions in the signal path. What is considered a quality feature
in high-quality tube amplifiers is rarely implemented as consequently in loudspeaker construction
as it is at ODEON AUDIO.

A new generation of 1″ compression driver with ring radiator technology is used as the tweeter. The particularly lightweight Mylar cone of the pressure chamber driver is driven by a particularly strong neodymium magnet, which guides the voice coil with a magnetic force of 2.2 Tesla. The result is a system that guarantees maximum resolution and speed. A special quality lies in the reproduction of the over tone range. With a linear transmission of over 26,000 Hz, the Celeste covers a significantly extended frequency range. These qualities are supported and significantly enhanced by the use of the ODEON AUDIO spherical horn made of birch multiplex. The 19 cm horn acts as a mechanical amplifier, which relieves the tweeter and thus makes a decisive contribution to a
relaxed sound character with the greatest possible resolution.

The bass-midrange driver is manufactured by the German company GAP. It is a 22cm driver with an ultra-light, hand-made cellulose cone and a high-quality, ultra-flexible rubber surround. The system combines a neodymium drive unit with a 37mm voice coil in a modern cast aluminum frame. These components allow a bass response and exceptional midrange reproduction that was previously unattainable in this size and price range.

Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) is used for the housing. Our master craftsmen only use MDF with a particularly high proportion of wood fibers and binders, which are bonded under high pressure. This special material prevents disruptive resonances and eliminates discoloration effects. The MDF used in the ODEON AUDIO models is up to 1.8 times heavier than conventional MDF and therefore significantly more stable. This makes it particularly suitable for sophisticated loudspeaker concepts. The Celeste’s multiplex horn throat and numerous braces provide additional stability and low resonance. The solid construction is also reflected in the increased weight of the speakers.

The ODEON AUDIO Celeste uses a unique downward-firing double horn throat. The down-firinghorn throat ensures easier acoustic integration into the living area. Every room has so-called room modes, which often result in strong bass peaks. The downward-firing horn throat stimulates these room modes significantly less than conventional solutions, where a reflex opening faces the rear wall. The four inlets of the horn throat create a symmetrical load on the cabinet and thus effectively suppress resonance phenomena. This technical design combines the bass substance of a reflex system with the extreme speed of a bass horn and was developed with the help of simulation programs, measuring systems and numerous prototypes and listening tests to meet the highest demands.

The Celeste uses particularly pure oxidation-free copper wiring (OFC) from German production. Across-section-optimized solid core cable with Teflon insulation is used in the high-frequency range. Normally, high-frequency information moves on the outer layers of the cabling due to the excessive cross-section. The high-purity thin 7N copper cabling of the helix is drawn in a single-crystal structure and, thanks to the selected cross-section, enables the entire conductor to be saturated without any problems. The result is a permanent and consistent quality in the transmission of high quality audio information. This contributes to an unprecedented resolution. To ensure interferencefree contact, the Celeste WBT nextgen speaker terminals are made of pure, gold-plated copper.
Due to their design and the low amount of material used, they suppress eddy current effects that usually occur with plug connections. The WBT terminals are mounted on acrylic plates, which house the crossovers and thus connect the terminals and crossovers directly to each other.
